My heart is racing. My palms are sweating. As they call my name, I stand up.
My chair scrapes the ground while I step back, then I head towards the stage. So many eyes look back at me, follow me, waiting. Prove them wrong, they tell me, but I doubt whether I can. I know they are there to judge me, so I steel myself. I am prepared. The steps towards the podium are too few, and they are already running out. Arriving, their eyes still wonder, can I do it? I reshuffle my notes, and clear my throat, meet the judge’s eyes as I reach for my timer and press “start”. Their eyes blink, and I have begun.
This is a day in the life of a debater, something you can experience first hand on the 18-20th of March at KG Cup. It is a inter-school debate competition held at Kungsholmen, where teams from all over Sweden come together to practice rhetoric. Try-out for the teams on the 17th of February starting at 14.10, and maybe you will have a story like this of your own to tell. Come help us defend Kungsholmen!
P.S. you can find more information at the Facebook event or through our facebook group
