With only 16 days to go to Christmas Eve, the cosiness of December has settled in around Kungsholmen. We all have different associations to this celebratory season, so I decided to ask some students and teachers what they thought to be the best thing about Christmas.
What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?
Ludvig: “My favourite thing is the Swedish traditions.”
Herman: “The Christmas break! No School!”
Maria: “I like the traditions and that Christmas is about being with family
Mr Soffe: “My favourite thing about Christmas is that it means that it starts getting lighter again. It’s like our celebration of Christmas signifies that we’ve made it through a cold and dark winter.
Carolina: “The best thing about Christmas is not Christmas Eve itself, but the build up to everything; the preparations, the mood, the excitement.”
Agnes: “This is going to sound like a cliché, but my favourite thing about Christmas is that you get to spend so much time with your family.”
The windows in our school have been decorated with twinkling Christmas lights, people are busy munching away at various Christmassy delights and if you happen to be in the right corridor at the right time, you might even get to hear a pre Lucia performance from the students of the choir section’s rehearsal. Christmas is all around and today, the first snow came. And even if you don’t celebrate Christmas or if you simply don’t enjoy this time of year, remember that it’s Friday and that school finishes in two weeks.
Merry Christmas KG!
