INTERVIEW Läroverksfejden is now in full swing, and a spirit of competition is in the air. Passionate Kungsholmers fill our corridors and everyone is eagerly anticipating the second round of the grand tournament. Earlier on I caught up with Love Lyssarides, one of three students representing Kungsholmen in Wednesday’s debating championship, to see how he’s doing in the run-up to the big event.
“Three students from the Debating Society have been picked by a selection committee to represent the school; Love Lyssarides, Klas Wetterberg and Filip Af Malmborg. And we’ve got a great team!” The brilliance of the KG team is something he seems eager to reiterate – not only have they worked hard at mastering possible topics, they also work well as a group, which is vital for success.
But I’m bemused by his seemingly carefree attitude. “Of course we’re all nervous, but we’ve had some great training and I know that we’re going to do well.” Apparently, the real competition is between us and Södra, and Södra’s going for style over substance. Love is confident that we have a really knowledgeable team that knows what to say and when to say it. This is our strategy for success.
Four schools, four teams, one single victor. All that remains now is a few inspirational YouTube clips, some intense preparation and a tad of jazz to calm the nerves. “It’s gonna be awesome!” Kungsholmen, we’re going for gold.
